Portland Students Bring Canstruction to Governor |
In conjunction with the Portland Oregon Canstruction Competition, four high school students active in the ACE Mentorship Program worked with the Portland Chapter of SDA and Glumac Engineering to create a canstruction that was displayed during Hunger Awareness Week at the Oregon State Capital in Governor Ted Kulongowski’s reception area. Using Autodesk Revit software the students designed and built an apple symbolizing good health and education. The sculpture remained on exhibit for two months; a testament to the structural integrity of the students’ design. Our thanks to high school seniors Reina Satoh, Daniela Sifuentes, Ana Ponce and Nelson Brooks for introducing Canstruction to the Governor and visitors to the Capital. Kudos to SDA Member Leslie Franken for coordinating this special project. |
