News Events

Disney Creates Record-Breaking Canstruction

Canstruction President Nick Telesca, Vice President Michelle Browne, and Treasurer Deborah Gill, attended Disney's "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" event on Feburary 11, 2010. The Disney event, at Lake Buena Vista, Florida, saw the unveiling of the largest Canstruction ever built. The canned food is to be donated to food banks in Orlando, Miami and Atlanta.

In Memory of Cheri Melillo, Hon. AIA

February 4, 1949 - December 26, 2009

With distinction from Northwestern University, Cheri C. Melillo, Hon. AIA, received her BS in Theater in 1971. Her career encompassed acting and 24 years as administrator Butler Rogers Baskett Architects (BRB). While employed at BRB, during her membership in the Society for Design Administration (SDA), Cheri created and was editor-in-chief of the SDA award winning news journal, SkyLines. She also instituted the SDA’s Lunch-Time Tours and Administrative Round-Table Program.

Canstruction Featured in November Issue of "Ranger Rick"

Article by Kate Hoffman "CANIMALS - Wanna guess what these animals are made of? Bet you CAN! Call it a "can-do" attitude. That's the spirit of a competition called "Canstruction." It has two important steps: 1. Build works of art entirely out of full cans of food or bottled drinks. 2. Help people in need by donating the food and drinks to them after the judging is over.
