Canstruction Dallas Hits Record |
The Dallas Competition reported a record 31 entries in its August Canstruction Competition. Aided by the amount of publicity Canstruction has received and a DVD the Dallas SDA Chapter created to introduce prospective teams to Canstruction, they have more than doubled the number of entries in just a year. |

Vancouver Featured at Pacific National Exhibition |
The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), the largest fair for entertainment and family fun in Canada, sponsored a special Canstruction exhibit to help publicize the Vancouver competition for the second year in a row. The fair draws 900,000 visitors each year who were treated to a preview of what they could expect at the February, 2008, Vancouver Canstruction Competition. Five structures from last year’s competition were featured: "CAN you find Treasure Island" (Skull) 3,415 cans by Coast Paper Limited and Signals Design Group, Inc.; "Make a Wish for an End to Hunger" (Wishing Well) 550 cans by The Pacific Blue Cross; "Give Hunger the Boot" (Boots) 7,800 cans by Metropolitan Fine Printers and Busby, Perkins + Will; "PicnicANTics" (Ant) 6,500 cans by Industrial Brand Creative and Legends Memorabilia; and "CANzilla Strikes!" (Godzilla) 6,212 cans by AMEC. All of the food in the structures was donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society at the close of the fair. The exposure Canstruction received at the fair not only increases attendance at the Vancouver competition but helps spread Canstruction to cities across Canada. |
