Deborah A. Gill, CPA, CDFA

Deborah Gill is the Controller at Clark - Nexsen, Architecture and Engineering, a 350+ person firm in the mid-Atlantic area. Prior to this position, she owned her own firm for 14 years, Profit by Design, Ltd., which provided management and systems consulting services to A/E firms.

Ms. Gill has been the chair of the Hampton Roads Canstruction® event for 11 years and has volunteered at the national level over the past 10 years as treasurer and business manager, working on the business plan, preparing IRS filings for exemption, preparing and filing tax returns, contributing to the annual reports, and providing general business expertise.

Her experience with association management also includes being national President and Treasurer of the Society for Design Administration, the financial director of the Hampton Roads Chapter of the AIA, and President and Treasurer of the Women's Forum Foundation.

She is a lecturer at A/E/C industry conventions and conferences and provides financial workshops for corporations. Topics include: the Business of Architecture, financial budgeting, project management and budgeting, benchmark accounting, firm valuation and transition, mergers and acquisitions, billing and accounts receivable collections.

Deborah holds a BA in foreign service from the University of Mary Washington and is a licensed CPA in Virginia.
